  1. Reblogged this on Vox Political and commented:
Thanks to kittysjones for giving us all a few reasons to remember that Labour still has greatness in it. Of particular interest to me, as a person dealing with disability benefits, is the proposal for a Disability Hate Crime Prevention law. Let us hope that this includes clauses that would incriminate the Atos assessors who wrongly recommended that sick and disabled people should lose their benefits, contrary to the evidence; the DWP decision-makers who rubber-stamped these decisions and sent decisions to award benefit back to Atos, demanding a recommendation to cut benefit instead; and finally the government ministers who perverted Britain’s great system of social security into a mechanism for persecuting those least able to defend themselves, including the Secretary of State who presided over the misery and deaths and saw every death as a “successful benefit outcome”. In honour of that man, let this law be retrospective in nature, going back to cover the five years of Coalition government, and let the Coalition’s Work and Pensions secretary be the first person prosecuted.

  2. Yawn.
Same shit, probably more lies, just a different tie.
It’s not tory, labor, or lib dems that this country needs, it’s something better and more focused on the ethnic BRITISH and Christian faith.
What? Haven’t a clue but this is a lovely day dream I’m having.

    1. Daydream and indulge your self all you like, but on 7th May 2015, you have 2 basic choices, like it or not. That is the way it is. Choose wisely, preferably with some thought about those currently suffering and dying because of the Tories and their Glib Dem enablers and their social demolition policies

    2. “more focused on the ethnic BRITISH and Christian faith” – is ethnic British white? I am not a Christian so your vision does not appeal to me – I think regilion should be kept out of our politics – it has no relevance.

  3. I’ll vote Labour but not because I trust or like it much. I’ll vote Labour because the other parties are either too small to win many votes, or dreadful. Labour is the least bad.

    1. I am further left than labour, though I do have some faith in them, too.

It’s time to put aside personal ideological preferences and vote for the only party that has defended the vulnerable, we have to end the suffering and deaths of others because of coalition policies. I will be voting labour on may 7th, 2015

  4. I don’t know much about politics, but what if the huge donors for the tories put up a bigger fight with money, obviously the rich will fight to protect their own interests, then what can any one else do? please forgive my ignorance, I was deemed not worth educating under the tories, as I was in “care” of the social services. Even though I could always read beyond my years. Which means I sometimes, cannot fully understand what I am reading.

    1. Hi Joanna, you are spot on – they will put up a fight, in fact they already are- look at Murdoch’s media propaganda empire as one example…

Seems to me you didn’t miss much education under the Tories, because you know more than many.

All we can do is keep spreading the truth to counteract the Tory lies, and vote labour next year xxx

  5. I missed 3 years at 10yrs I was placed in a “special school” ( I had a reading of a 13yr old ) I was put back into mainstream education at 14yrs I left school without any qualifications, it was only because books at the library were my only saviour that I have always been able to read. I now work as a voluntary teaching assistant for adults, but I still have to battle huge prejudices on a personal level.

  6. I know many might disagree but the internet, when used right can prove to be an awesome tool!! And thankfully more older people are getting used to it mainly because of Skype.
When Mike at Vox first laid out 48 achievements of labour I sent it to my MP Alan Johnson, he had forgotten some of them, but said he was sending the list to his colleagues. Should I do the same now there are more?

  7. This has given me the kick in the backside that I needed, so thank you for that kittysjones.
I’ve been really worried about voting for Labour as the blogs and posts all seem so down about them, but we have to keep reminding ourselves what they WILL do and not what they WON’T do.
I’ll be voting Labour in May 2015 unless we in Scotland, get independence, which, I assume (and rightly so), that we won’t be able to take part in the election even though Scotland would not become independent until 2016.

    1. Unfortunately we have some militantly inclined people on the left that lend Lynton Crosby a helping hand in spreading right wing lies and propaganda, I’m also afraid that the SNP do the same to undermine labour, too. That’s because labour are by far the bigger threat to the SNP, the Tories have no chance in Scotland. The militants would prefer the Tories get another term to either “speed up the revolution”, or to push labour into being their very own idea of ideologically “pure”. But meanwhile people are suffering and dying because of tory policies. That’s not very socialist is it – to place your own exact preferences over and above the importance of the well-being of so many other

It’s therefore very important we challenge lies and get the truth out to as many as possible. Any party that has to rely on lies and smears to gain office won’t stop doing that after an election, it’s a pity those that wilfully share the lies don’t realise this.

    1. It was clause 118 of the health and welfare act 2012, it allows the government to close a hospital within 4 weeks to fund another hospital that is having financial difficulties, they learned from Lewisham they couldn’t do this, so they tried to tell people their hospital is bad and needs closing, at mid staffs only to find that the real truth despite what the media claim is that the people want the hospital to remain, having failed with this approach they have changed the law.
